Welcome to ‘Trench’

The Great War Project and Map Leicester 2500
Trench… Find out more

Trench and its online platform, has developed from the website Owner / Authors’ personal interests into Family and Great War History. Although The Great War ended over 100 years ago, it still generates interest, curiosity and fascination. The Stories we tell, through many different mediums and very important to this project, mapping (*1), regarding our ancestors of this time, is just the beginning…

Although the site is called ‘Trench’ and is built upon ideas of getting a better understanding of the First World War through Mapping, that is not the complete picture. ‘Trench wishes to build a better understanding of the people who lived through it… It’s all about your families history and sharing the stories that can be told.

Together, it is hoped, we can create something really special and extraordinary; documenting some 20 years of family and Social History. Making ‘Trench’ one of, if not ‘the first’, greatest National, Community led, Family, Social and Great War Mapping Projects to date. Engage and be apart of an exciting Community Initiative!
